Kelly + Josh | Assistant Photographer for Karlo Gesner | Lancaster, PA

This is it! This was the moment that I have been waiting for! I waited 3 long months for this New Year’s Eve wedding to arrive! DESTINATION PHOTOGRAPHER! Whoo hoo! My very first destination wedding!

I had the honor to second shoot for Karlo Gesner. I’ve never worked with Karlo before so I was really nervous when we met up at Prince Street Cafe in downtown Lancaster to go over the itinerary for Kelly and Josh’s wedding. I was immediately put at ease when we met because Karlo is such an incredible individual. He was really open, very personable and so friendly. He completely trusted me and just allowed me to be creative and shoot and have fun at the wedding. Thank you Karlo! I  can’t wait for another opportunity to shoot with you again.

As with all my second shooting gigs I get the men! Yay me!

Josh, a fireman, had an accident just a few days before his wedding. Nevertheless, he told Karlo that he would do whatever it takes to get to the church to marry his beautiful bride. Josh is also an incredible individual. He is so warm, friendly and was ready and willing to do whatever it took to make this the best day of Kelly’s life. I don’t think I saw Josh stop smiling the entire day! I absolutely adore Josh and his groomsmen. They did whatever I asked of them and it made for a fun shoot.Aren’t they dashing? Just mere moments before we had to leave for the church I just had to sneak in a few formals against this rugged backdrop. I love the juxtaposition of the rugged rocks and the elegant sophistication of the suits.Josh waiting for his beautiful bride for the first look! I love the way Josh looks at Kelly. You can tell he’s totally smitten with his bride.Ah the men…didn’t I say that I love my job? Well I do, I get to shoot handsome men all day long. 😛 I came across this corner in the train station that had the most amazing softly diffused light! I had to shoot in here…This was the most amazing experience I have ever had during my first year as a professional photographer. I was able to travel to the east coast and shoot a New Year’s Eve wedding! I ended my year on such a high note that I hope 2012 will be just as perfect and just as incredible.

This was my first trip back east during the middle of winter and New Year’s week! I got into Philadelphia after midnight and was super tired from the long flight and of course the dreaded delays due to “inclement weather”. Nevertheless I got up bright and early the next morning to hike in Lancaster County Park. That is the start time and temperature on the left and the end time and temperature on the right. Although it was 23 degrees outside, once I started hiking I warmed up and started to take off the down jacket and gloves and hat. 🙂

It was a pretty amazing hike because I saw deer! They are very shy animals, but so beautiful. I was able to get a pretty good look at them. Can you believe that the bones pictured below are actually part of deer vertebrae? Amazing that their discs are in the shape of a heart isn’t it?
